Creators and supporters of “Chinese Seed Carvings - Wishes in Miniature”:
Guat Cheng Poh: with more than ten trips all over China, not only in search of Chinese Seed Carvings but also with her mother, her language skills have made her an expert on China.
Many a places not visited by tourists were on our itinerary (rock dwellings, rock temples with fantastic rock paintings etc.). The most hidden place we reached after a one hour bus ride with a stop in an open field in front of a factory. After passing through the factory, the village of the olive carvers could be found (Yonging, see page 158 in the book). According to the carvers, their main customers are in Japan and South Korea.
Roland Himmler: now retired. His interests are not only varied but also offbeat. Books about the "Renggeri marl and its fossils”, “Miao Minorities”. The Miao minorities can be found in Guizou/China, Northern Vietnam and Northern Laos, both in the mountainous borderland to China.
Roland also visited all continents (with the exception of South America and Eastern Europe).
Terese Tse Bartholomew, Curator of Asian Art Museum in San Francisco: her positive feedback was the decisive impulse for the completion and publication of this book and website.
Jan Michael Himmler: after studies in biology and business administration, he successfully founded a consulting company in the field of computer science. With this obvious technical background and his great interest in the subject, he was leading the creation of this website.
